Back Home.. [ also SUGAR SCRUB NOTES ]

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

Just saying hi!! I am finally home, done with running at I have only been here about an hour.. long enough to unpack the car, eat, and spend about 30 minutes with husby. He had that auction he had to go to so he could buy and sell more cars. I hate that he is having to do this now. But I am sure he is better at it that the dumbass who got fired. Sorry.. but that's the truth..

Anyway, I have a house full of stuff waiting for me to get it done. I will have probably a big post up before I head to bed..but it will be late. I also have a busy night cleaning wise along with tomorrow because w have a lady coming to check out Ferdinand. He is such a doll baby and I want the right family for him. I will hold out till I get it. I don't want him in a really busy house. I know his shy temperament needs to over came in the right environment. I mean, I have been around since day 1 and his just starting to really come out of his shell.. In fact, right now he is running full speed around here with his brother. It makes me smile how far he has came. He is the shy one. No others were shy.. but that big guy is!

I got a ton of supplies for the homemade gifts. I am going to go ahead and post it tonight because I want you all to be able to kinda follow along if you want. I also want you to know where I got them and what website I ordered some stuff off too. I think if you are making the sugar scrubs you need to order these. You won't have to.. and in fact, I will give you a few ideas of what to do instead if you can't order them. But they will make it look so cute! Another thing I wanted to make clear is that homemade does not mean free. While it doesn't cost much, there is an expense to it. I don't mind paying a little extra on a nice jar and ribbons because by time you are ton you are going to have a very nice looking gift for around $ 5 each. And they really are well worth more than that.. You'll see.. Don't just make them for others, try it out yourself before you ever bottle it up. Sugar scrubs tend to be a little slippery.. that's every sugar scrub. I use them all the time and in winter the oil really helps make dry skin soft and moisturized. Like I said, I will go through everything tonight with you guys..

But right now, I have to start putting things away and cleaning up a bit.

Ohhhh.. I forgot, to tell you I found a great deal on Christmas cards. More info about that tonight too. Scott is helping this year with ours! I will have them out in the mail on Tuesday!

Time to get motivated.. be back in the wee hours!

As I have already told you guys, I am making some homemade gifts this year. The first of gifts, I want to share with you guys is these wonderful sugar scrubs. I have made some of these and compared them to my bath and body sugar scrubs and I promise you.. mine are just as good..

So first off the recipes and then you will see a bunch of pictures on how to package them for gifts. They are not my pictures but inspiration!
Now you can switch these up with any kind of essential oil that you want.. I think a cute is a candy cane sugar scrub and all you would do to make it is use any of the recipes below.. but I think the white sugar scrub would work best for this and add some peppermint essential oils..

Simple stuff!

Very simple first recipe..

white sugar

brown sugar

Olive Oil

Equal parts of sugar, mix together,

add enough olive oil to the consistency you like

and 1 capful
of vanilla

mix well

Put in a jar with a lid and enjoy!

1 cup pure cane sugar

1 cup vegetable oil

Oil from one vitamin E capsule

1-2 drops essential oil (e.g., lavender, orange, lemon)

1 16oz. glass container with a lid

Combine all the ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended. Using a spatula, transfer the mix into the container and secure the lid. Contents will settle, mix before using. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub onto your hands/feet/elbows and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. The scrub will tighten on your skin. Leave on for 3-4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing.

Exact same recipe as above but with granulated sugar..

White Cane Glimmer Sugar Scrub

White Cane Glimmer Sugar Scrub1 cup - Granulated Sugar
1 cup - vegetable oil
Oil from 1 vitamin E capsule
1 or 2 drops - of essential oil, lavender or orange
1 16oz. - glass container with lid
Combine all of the ingredients in a medium bowl until well blended. Using a spatula, transfer mix into the container and secure lid. Contents will settle, mix before using. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The scrub will tighten on your skin.

Brown Sugar Body Scrub Recipes

Brown Sugar Body ScrubWe know the perfect way to relax after a long day of baking! Try this luxurious homemade spa treatment using a delicious aromatic blend of Dark or Light Brown Sugar, moisturizing oils and fresh fragrances. You can also create this homemade sugar scrub, as a thoughtful, low-cost gift that will make your friends feel a little sweeter!

Brown Sugar Body Scrub

1/2 cup ground almonds
1/2 cup ground oatmeal
1/2 cup Dark Brown Sugar, packed
1/4 cup almond oil
1 tsp. vanilla extract
Small containers with lids

Combine all ingredients using a spatula in a large bowl until well blended. Mix should have a paste-like texture. If it is too dry, add more oil a few drops at a time. Conversely, if it is too oily, add more dry ingredients until you reach the desired consistency. Keep stored in tightly sealed jars. May need to mix before use if ingredients settle.

Sweet N’ Spicy Brown Sugar Scrub

1 cup - Dark or Light Brown Sugar
1 cup -Granulated Sugar
¾ cup - almond oil
2 tsp. - ground cinnamon
2 tsp. - ground ginger
2 tsp. - ground nutmeg
1 16 oz. - glass container with lid
Cinnamon sticks, optional

In a medium-sized bowl, combine all ingredients until thoroughly blended. Be sure to break up any lumps from the brown sugar or from the spices. Spoon into the glass container and secure with lid. Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin. Leave on for 3 to 4 minutes before thoroughly rinsing. The scrub will tighten on your skin.

Honey Almond Sleepy Sugar Scrub:

Mix about 3 parts white sugar and 1 part honey.
2 Tablespoons tea (I brewed an extra strong cup of Sleepy Time tea)
1 Teaspoon almond extract. You could also use an essential oil here instead.
The consistency: Not oily runny everywhere, like the honey won’t mix all the way in.
Not breaking apart and lumpy like there is too much sugar:)

Vanilla Almond Brown Sugar Scrub:
Mix about 3 parts brown sugar and 2 parts olive oil
2 packets instant oatmeal (or about 1 cup oats)
Handful of almonds
1 teaspoon almond extract or an essential oil
Mix all in a food processor, or beat a bunch with a spoon (and chop the almonds)
This consistency will be more grainy , but should still have a little movement in it.
You really can’t mess this up…if in doubt, use it yourself and see if your hands feel too oily afterwards.
If so, add more oats or sugar…

Gently apply to wet skin in a circular motion, concentrating on dry patches and rough areas of your skin. Avoid using the scrub on sensitive areas, in cuts or on skin that is irritated or sunburned. Sugar scrubs are also not recommended for the face. Thoroughly rinse with warm water.

Caution: the oil in the sugar scrub can cause the tub to become slippery.

Have fun creating your own signature body scrub by experimenting with various scents from essential oils like grapefruit, lavender or peppermint, found in specialty markets or crafts stores. If you add any natural fruit or dairy products to your scrub, we recommend you refrigerate for up to two weeks.

A little goes a long way with the sugar body scrub when giving as gifts. Use small mason jars or washed out baby food jars as containers. Decorate the lids buy cutting out fabric scraps in a circle shape about 2 inches larger than the lid. Glue the fabric to the lid, then tie a pretty coordinating ribbon, gathering the fabric, around the neck of the jar. Be sure to include a small tag with the application instructions and don’t forget to let the recipient know that you were the one sweet enough to make these for them!

Tag Idea..
Homemade Sugar Scrub
Contains: white & brown sugars; vitamin E, almond and orange oils. Directions: Scoop a teaspoon or two of the scrub on your hands and gently massage in circular motions onto your skin

In the air...

December will be here in less than 24 hours. I can feel Christmas in the air!! In fact, I will probably do a little shopping today! I didn't get to bed till really late and I woke up to phone calls about the cats. A lot of people want females but I can't control how many of those my cats have! I am hoping for today to be a bit slower being I have things I have to do in while. After I am done with this post, I am going to get the post up for home made sugar scrubs because I promised it would be up YESTERDAY!! Its pretty much done except for few more notes. Then, time to clean up and head out. I will be out a while so don't look for me to be blogging till tonight sometime in the evening. Scott has to go to the auction at 7 and I suspect, you will hear from me before then!

I have checked on the kittens.. both are doing great and everyone seems to be very happy with their new babies! I am sure they will bring more love to their homes than they will ever expect.

Well.. need to get that post finished.. I want to try to be out of here by 130 at the latest.

Talk to you in a bit!

Have a great day and be sure to check out the homemade sugar scrub post! Its a great homemade gift and I am making a ton of it! =))

Bye.. =(

Hello friends. I hope you guys are having a great night. I am going to go kinda go back to last night.. and show you what it was like around here!

I had let laundry go for a couple days.. never a good idea in our house but I kinda took a break and last night it was laundry night so.. look who my helpers were!

Kitty cats were everywhere.. Yes, I still have an older washer. I just can't get rid of it like that.. Kinda a pack rat of sorts and I am loyal to something that still works. However, husby might make me give it up some time soon in the future!

Here's sweet pea.. and she is now gone..

Swagger and he's still here.. yea!!

OMG.. is he not the freaking cutest cat ever.. Just look at that expression!!

Ferdinand being playful - still here!!

and Gizmo playing with a laundry basket..

And now he is gone..

Also last night.. the kitty cats had a little special time playing for the first time in some

You can't give cat nip to young kittens but these guys are finally old enough to

have some fun!

Ferdinand was loving it!

They were all loving it. I put it on the fireplace area and I even left it.. and some is on the carpet but it will vacuum right up tomorrow

It was well worth the mess because

Ferdinand loved it so much ! He is a bit shy but he just had a blast. I loved watching him go from being scared of his own shadow to becoming more confident and more independent. He will make some one a very good cat. Scott loves the way he looks.

Today when I woke up, I had calls and emails flying in. Dummy me, don't like voice mails so I leave my voice mails full but bad idea if your kittens go in the paper! I got busy and got that cleaned up after the first call.. and   I stayed on the phone all day dealing with this. I mean it was huge. I have had a turn out like this. Christmas kittys are a big hit!!

I got all their bags

with instructions.

of course one for toys too!

I got them all

up.. receipts  made too. I should have been a little more organized but that will change with the next litter. Just a busy time of  year for us and I have been consumed with holiday stuff .. along with house stuff.

I got it all boxed up along with their

ribbons... I love these little boxes.. They are small and have handles and make transporting anything super easy!

Scott came home and we took off

with the babies.. Here's Sweet Pea.. now known as MOCHA!!

Here is my last picture with Sweet Pea..

and she looks so much like her mommy.. I'm going to miss her. My mom wanted her.. I should have maybe should have let her have MOCHA but she told me no!! But she did want her!

She's got her bow on!!!

And here is my last picture with

with my beloved Gizmo. Omg.. I am really going to miss him! Buy the way the are keeping his name Gizmo!! Its funny I am totally at 50/50 with either keeping the nick name I give and 1/2 of them have renamed them! I try to pick names that suit their personalities! Gizmo fits this little guy perfectly!!

He had a bow too!

This is was my baby. He just melts into your arms. Sweetest little guy ever!

We were gone from 6 till midnight. We did stop at a friends because I don't think hubby wanted to miss the end of a basketball game so we stopped for just about 30 minutes. I was exhausted and really wanted to get home, feed the cats and get in the bath.. and that's exactly what happened. The water so hot and comforting in my bath that I stayed in there for nearly 45 minutes. It felt amazing.

Since.. I have emailed a friend, responded to some emails I received about the other two.. cleaned up the kitchen, really fast..tossed laundry around and here I am at 246 am exhausted and heading to bed really soon. If tomorrow is anything like today, I have a busy day. I took calls all day, along with sending emails but tomorrow.. calls and emails are fine but I have errands to run no matter what. I can limit them but I still have to get a few done before anything else. And I won't be out of bed early either. I will try to be up by noon.. and that alone will help. It will take a hour or so to get ready and then hopefully I can get it all done in an hour or so or maybe two.

I hope the kittens are doing well. I know it must be scary to be in a new home but I know they will be loved. I mean how can you not love them? I got some pictures after we got home and they look settled. I will post them sometime soon. They are on my phone and I don't feel like uploading them right now. I am just wore out..

I hope you guys have a great Wednesday. Here's some inspiration for you.

I am so grateful for being blessed to have such beautiful kittens, enjoying all the love and happiness and now passing it on.. and they are passing it on. One of the kittens is going to a woman's brother. He lost his, and she is passing it on. Its love.. and nothing is better than that.

Also.. thank you baby for driving so much and doing all kinds of kitty cat duties for us tonight! I know you were tired and I appreciate it. I love you..

Its bitter sweet you guys. I haven't cried but come close a couple of times. I have to keep telling myself that this is NOT the last litter or last kitten that will come my way. Nope.. I'm just getting started!!

Sweet Dreams!

Terrific Tip Tuesday!!!

Tuesday, November 29, 2011

Wine stain...well pour a little Morton's salt on top & it will absorb the wine.

Need a all purpose stain lifter...use a little Colgate tooth paste...paste kind

Try a bit of  Kyro syrup on those pesky grass stains...

  A little bit coca-cola on a driveway to get rid of those grease stains {let sit overnight}

 Wax stain place a paper towel and iron the stain it lifts it to the towel...{repeat with new fresh towel}

Crayon on a wall? try that trusty Colgate paste and brush!

Ballpoint ink can be removed by rubbing alcohol...this works!!!

Is your iron sticking...try rubbing it gently over a piece of paper sprinkled with salt! Now if its dirty...rub it with a steal wool soap pad and run it over a piece of wax paper! it will be shiny...and smooth!

Do you have small burns/balls all over your sweet sweater...try using a small disposable razor skim over them and that will do the trick! be gentle!

Do you have any tips you want to share!!??

Email me!

Oh my.. its been a super busy day with the phone calls re the cats.. I think 2 have sold already and we are delivering one tonight.. the little female!! I am not sure how Scott is going to like that being that's his favorite! But that's the name of the game with a cattery. I am super excited about the kittens going to new loving homes. I love the joy they bring families.

I have been up since 11 am and I am thankful that I have some extra time today to get the kittens cleaned up. Sweet pea has to have a bath and get all prettied up for the big switch over!

Lots to do.. but I will have Terrific Tuesday Tips in just a bit!!

K Jaggers

Bed Time.

What a huge lesson for all of us to learn. I can't even tell you how much I think this is important. Seems like being trustworthy is a lost art among most people. The questions is.. How do you get trust, how do you keep it and what do when it goes away.. I have no idea the answers to those questions.. NONE.

A friend sent me an email tonight and told me basically when someone you trust lies to you it blows up in epic proportions and can just be terrible. I am not the best with trust. I have serious trust issues and I don't know if it will ever change. Just going to keep being me and hope that takes me where I need to go.

I don't have any huge plans tomorrow. If its stops raining long enough, I need to run to the store to get a couple things and then back home to get a few more things done around here. Scott should only be working till 6 pm so I don't have a lot of time to get things done. He is suppose to be off tomorrow but being they are going through some changes at his work, he is working. Yea, not too happy about that. We don't get that much time together and when he works on his days off, it only makes things harder. But whatever..

I am not so happy right now, and maybe now.. less is more. I don't want to just rant on here but I am feeling on edge a bit. I should take my sleeping meds and get my butt to bed.. with a fresh day.. I can't wait till I can my mom and talk to her tomorrow. I talked to 2 of my girlfriends tonight about what's on my mind and they both were very supportive and gave me some great advice. But still need to talk to my mom..don't think I can tie my shoes without talking to her first! Just kidding!! We do talk a lot and she is more than a mom.. shes a best friend.

Anyway, I am posting all the recipes and pictures to the Homemade Sugar Scrub tomorrow!! I have been asked by a lot of my family and friends about it and I want to get it posted asap so everyone knows how to make it. I am serious..I am making a lot of gifts. I am still buying gifts too but its a little extra and also its something for people that you really don't want to buy for but you do want to give something to. I think any lady and some guys would love the sugar scrubs. Promise!!

And don't forget I am starting the new TERRIFIC TUESDAY TIPS tomorrow too! That should be a lot of fun! I am learning so many new tips from the books and I am excited to share them with you!! Maybe some of you guys already know about some of them but here's a good one.. that I never knew..

Kinda a sneak peak at some of the things coming up in that series..

~ You know how bananas always seem to ripen to fast!?  Well all you have to do to keep that from happening is pull them apart!  ~

Who knew that!? I sure didn't and I went to Culinary School and didn't know that! Try it.. I did and it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are so many tips and tricks that I am going to be sharing! Can't wait to get started with them!

Hope you guys have a great Tuesday Morning!!
