Good morning everyone! I have been up since about 8am due to Jackson being loud in the kitchen.. YUCK! Since, I have been tossing around in bed and on the couch just hoping to be able to doze back off for a couple hours but nope.. that's not happening today. I feel tired but my mind and body isn't allowing any extra sleep right now.. so maybe an afternoon nap. Husby won't be home till 830-900 so we have lots of time today.
Speaking of Jackson.. things are going to have to change in the kitchen. We have a big snack pantry and its causing trouble around here. Every night I get Jackson's breakfast ready.. and I get as much sat out as I can but the last few days he has totally bypassed his breakfast and headed right for the snack pantry.
This morning he helped himself to a bag of extra buttered popcorn for his breakfast. He was really noisy and when I woke up and realized what he was doing I about flipped out. His reason was simple..
→ He wanted something else for breakfast ←
Well, I think dealing with this is just plain stupid on my part. I am going to be giving the pantry a make over today and all the real snacks are going up high where he can't get them without pulling a bar stool in the kitchen. I hate doing it but he's 9 years old and clearly not ready to make his own food choices. Also I am trying to really limit his sugar and having a snack pantry with sugary stuff for husby and I isn't working anymore. So going to clean out the junk food ( actually I am hiding it ) and only leaving a few healthy options and then I will use the rest of the area for storage. I don't know what else to do. I do like healthy organic food but there are times when I just want to grab 3-4 Oreos or maybe some chips and having those things in Jackson's reach is just not good. Do you guys face this problem in your homes? I know that I can't be the only one with a 9 year old little boy who is constantly in the kitchen going from frig, to pantry, back to the frig and into the freezer.. He just doesn't stop. I wish the kitchen was locked up just to avoid this problems. But that's ok.. just going to change things up on him today. Jackson gets up super early.. sometimes 7ish on days he should be sleeping in a little later.. I check on him.. and normally he is laying on the couch playing the ipad, watching tv.. so I doze back off for a little while too. I guess he has my number and waits till he thinks I am am out cold and just helps himself to whatever he wants. But in the am I am sleeping with my door open and I hear everything and today I smelled the popcorn! He is cute as he can be but I am not going to lie..
I am ready for school to start!
Its been a very long summer and these last 2 weeks are dragging on forever. I need the break and downtime because its been absolutely crazy around here this summer. Jackson is starting to get bored with no other kids here. I was so thankful husby took him out last night for a movie but I can already tell today is going to be a long day!
So today's goals are pretty simple..
Clean downstairs bathroom from top to bottom.
Change up the kitchen pantry and maybe start cleaning and organizing the frig a little bit.
Brush out cats
And work on the plants outside in the front yard and pick ripe tomatoes.
I also have to get Brittany's box shipped out asap. I think its all packed up she is going to kill me if I don't get her forgotten computer charger in the mail. That is something that HAS to be done today. I also am going to play a couple games with Jackson because I said I would. He wants to go to the pool tonight but its suppose to rain and be cool tonight so I think that is out. But Jackson's friend is suppose to be over about 6 tonight to get him to play.. so Jackson already has plans for tonight anyway!
Well lots of posts coming up today.. Stay tuned!
