Happy Leap Day!

Happy Leap day everyone!

I wonder how many of you guys know what a leap year or leap day means..

Well, its a year when an extra day is added at the end of the month of February. This happens approximately (but NOT every) four years. This applies to anyone who uses the Gregorian calendar - which is pretty much the whole world.

We have a leap year because a standard year is not actually exactly 365 days long - it's 365.2422 days long, so slightly longer than we count in a standard year calendar.
That long number - 365.2422 - is the number of days it takes the planet Earth, on average, to make a full rotation around the sun.

So, an extra day is added onto our shortest month, about once every four years, in order to keep the calendar months in line with their assigned seasons. If we didn't add the day to compensate, the months would get so out of step with the seasons that eventually we'd be celebrating Christmas in the middle of summer. The concept of the leap year dates back to Julius Caesar and the ancient Roman Empire, when he commissioned scientists to create the Julian calendar in 46 BC.

Its funny because last night I fell to sleep watching Leap Year.. with Amy Adams.. its based off Leap Year where according to an old Irish legend, or possibly history, St Bridget struck a deal with St Patrick to allow women to propose to men – and not just the other way around – every 4 years. This is believed to have been introduced to balance the traditional roles of men and women in a similar way to how Leap Day balances the calendar.

I know it didn't get rave reviews but I think its cute. So if you want a date night movie for tonight in celebration of Leap Year.. rent it because its sweet.

A Better Night..

Hello everyone. Its almost 1am here and I got to get this post done fast so I can lay down and try to get some sleep.

Tonight was easy compared to the last couple of nights. There has just been a lot going on around here and its not been the easiest of times. But I have been praying and just trying to find my way through the stress. Thanks to a very loving and supporting mom and a couple great girlfriends.. I have had so much wisdom and love sent my way, that I am so grateful for. Its because of them that I am getting stronger by the day.

I had such high hopes for this line. I love the organix shower products so I just assumed I would love the hair care line. I tried some of their haircare products in the past but wasn't really wow'd by them. But I thought I would give it another try... Sadly I must report that this haircare line is just not for me. I think it smells amazing. But after washing and conditioning my hair , and letting it air dry, my hair would become hard, frizzy, tangled and it really felt dry, as it did the first time I tried this hair care line.

The Organix Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner has the same floral-salon scent. Its pretty strong but thankfully when you rinse it out, the fragrance fades extremely quickly to the point where I can’t really smell it anymore, especially after I’ve dried and styled my hair. I don't dry my hair every day. Most of the time I let it air dry and the smell still fades rather fast.

I also found that this shampoo does not really lather well either.  The texture of the shampoo was extremely viscous (it was kinda gross looking, actually), and I needed a ridiculous amount of it to actually distribute it through my hair. (My hair is wavy and very thick.) When I rinsed the shampoo out, it left my hair in zillions of knots and tangles. The conditioner that complements this isn't very complimentary, either, because it did little to tame the horrible mess the shampoo created. I got so frustrated after the I got out of the shower that I got right back in and conditioner my hair with some John Fredia conditioner and was much happier when I got out. I had to leave it in over 10 minutes to reverse the effects of what the Organix shampoo and conditioner did to my hair.

Now about the oil.. The is just the same. It was really heavy on my hair, and instead of giving my hair a sheen it just made my hair look dull and I hated the texture.

So with that all said, I am giving this product a big fat

F
again.. because its exactly how I felt the first time I tried a shampoo and conditioner from this line. While I might really love the shower and bath products, the hair care products are going to stay sitting on the shelf.

Actually, I ended up taking all 3 products back to CVS and got a full refund.

Here is my quick video review...

Have you tried any of the hair care products from this line??

I would love to hear from you.. email me!

Birthday Gift Review and Video!

Hello friends. Tonight I am going to take a few minutes to talk and review my early birthday gift from my mom!

Country Living Stanton 5 Pc. Wrought Iron Dining Set

I having been wanting a new patio set for a while now. So this year I was lucky enough to have mom get one for my birthday. It has been over 12-13 years since I got a patio set. I finally tossed away my old one when I moved out of Indiana.

So really happy to be showing you this!

Sturdy and low maintenance, with comfortable mid-back action chairs and a large 42" round mesh-top table, all featuring traditionally styled wrought-iron frames.

The umbrella is both solid with a stripe ruffle around the top

Here is the base.. Its desiged to match the Stanton patio furniture collection.

Three sizes of plastic rings to fit different diameter of umbrella poles
Umbrella Bases: 17-1/2" Dia. x 13-3/8" H

I love these chairs.. again they match and they came with these waterproof cushions in a stripe and solid pattern..

One of our ( mom and I ) favorite parts of this set is the feet to the chairs. They look kinda whimsical to me.

As you can see the view from this table is really pretty. I can't wait till spring is totally here and all the trees are blooming.

Here is a quick video review!!

Thanks for watching. For more information about this patio set as well as others, check out sears.com or you can click here to check out this specific table.

Stressful Tuesday

The last few days around here have been anything other than easy going. So much is going on with us and our family that I just am having trouble keeping up. I seriously wish we were on a beach in the keys soaking in the sun and letting all the stresses flow right out of our heads and hearts. I was in bed super early last night. I was exhausted and I woke up about 9 am this morning. I just forced my self to stay in bed till about 1030 trying to sleep sleep sleep. I figure right now its one of the most healing things to do. Dreaming of that warm beach! =)

We are suppose to have family here on Thursday night. So lots to do if they are coming. Its up in the air right now till we figure out everything around here out. Hopefully in the next few days we will get the house all sorted out.

Its sunny here.. so I think I am going to hang some clothes out to dry. I love drying clothes outside. I prefer that method. Now, husby don't like towels dried outside because they are not soft and fluffy. However, using fabric softener in the wash helps soften them. But on days I forget to do that, I let them totally dry outside and then toss them in the dryer for 20 minutes and that helps too. I don't mind the towels being a little stiff. He does though.

Life is so complex. I hate trying to figure it all out. I don't have all the answers, no crystal ball to show me what will be, and the worst part is that its always changing. I like stability and I don't like change. Even the kids are changing. They are growing up and amaze me every day. Brittany is loving drama.. DRAMA!! Wow.. I couldn't get up that stage in front of people to save my life. But she is evoking into her own person.. its actually scary to me. Jackson the same way.. growing up with each passing day.

Well, I have tons to do. Will be back later!

Monday =(

Tumblr_m024rcs4o01rqytrdo1_500_large

Hello friends. Sorry I didn't blog much yesterday. It was a crazy day around here and my body was hurting, my head was hurting, my heart was hurting.. and I ended up taking some meds and going to bed. I turned my phone down and went to bed super early. I fell asleep during the Oscars.. woke up for a few minutes.. emailed a friend.. and fell back to sleep.

I didn't even hear Scott or Michael get up for work today. I am kinda happy about that being I was so tired. I don't have any big plans for today.. just hanging around the house and maybe running to the store later. The house is a mess but I don't know how much I am going to get to today. I might just take my butt right back to bed in a few minutes.

- I just looked out the window and there ware two woodpeckers on a tree right in front where I can see them. They are so pretty. I just can't wait till spring is fully here. I am tired of the cold days and want sunny happy days!

Anyway, just wanted to say hello. I will be back later.

Hope you are having a great Monday.

Sunday!

Sunday, February 26, 2012

Helloooo!!!

Hope you are having a great Sunday! Its going pretty good around here. We are all sitting around being lazy and the guys of course are watching golf. I have been up for about an hour and I am trying to figure out what the day holds. I doubt any of us will be doing much being its Sunday.

Scott and I are going shopping in a bit but that's about all. The kittys need food and we need something for dinner. The kitchen is a mess so I have that job too. Its not bad but the sink is full of dirty coffee cups. We have either eaten out or snacked through dinner the last couple of days and we have just been piling things up in the sink.. but there is no way I can get in there and cook any kind of Sunday dinner with a mess in the kitchen.

Well I am off to get ready to clean up and get to the store.

I'll be back in a bit!

Saturday Inspiration..

166990_247474785336390_2008164343_n_large

Hello!

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday!

Its sunny here today but its still pretty cool. I have been up since about 1030 so that's not too bad! I was hoping to get up at 10 but I was so comfy in my bed that I didn't want to get out of it. But I am starting to do a little better with sleeping. I don't always want to go to bed but I am trying to stop fighting it and get my brain trained to that around 12am its time to start settling down. I think husby even likes it.. more like surprised that I am working so hard on it.

Like I said last night.. no huge plans till husby gets off work. I might fool around in the laundry room but really I am just hanging out till he gets home. Then its off to get the patio table, chairs, and umbrella and do a little grocery shopping. It will take an hour to get to the table and an hour to get back home. Thankfully husby can just grab a truck from the dealership for us to use.. because its sure not going to fit in my car! Speaking of the patio table.. it took hours.. days.. for my mom and I to pick it out. We just kept browsing websites trying to find the perfect one. We both liked this one so much because it looked like a patio set you would see on the streets of Paris. I still didn't like the price.. I felt it was wayyyy to expensive for a birthday gift... But thinks it will hold up through the years. And when you think about how much we will be using it.. I am sure it is worth it. =) So really excited that by tomorrow ( hopefully tonight actually ) the pretty table will be up on our deck! Thank you mom!

Last night I was looking through the pictures on Scott's phone and here is one of the one's I found..

I was kinda shocked to see a picture of Gabby in his phone. I loved it though!! He would say he doesn't love the cats as much as I do.. but I don't believe that. When he comes home every night he loves on them just like he does the dog. Its so cute to watch!

I am going to be working on more Mardi Gras post today so stay tuned!

Hope you have a beautiful day!

xoxo

Goodnight

385486_205977622826372_187175268039941_413994_372428455_n_large

Hello friends... just a quick goodnight.

I am working really hard on waking up earlier. I woke up today about 830 so and stayed up all day. It wasn't that easy at first...I did lay around till about 10 but at least I was up. I hate going to sleep at 4 or 5 am. I hate it. So I am doing my best to try to change it. I don't set my alarm.. I am just starting to wake up earlier. I already took my sleep meds so I am hoping by time I am done with this post, I will be nice and sleepy. I am even blogging from a dark room to help my brain realize its time to go to sleep. I really want to be up by 10am by the latest.

Today went pretty good. The weather was still pretty nice but not near as nice as yesterday.. Ohh.. I forgot.. Here is a video from yesterday's weather..

It was such a pretty day. A good day to wake up early for! Today wasn't as nice but it was still pretty warm.. just a bit windy. But we didn't have any of the storms they worked everyone up for around here today. That's why I don't trust the weather guys.

Besides that we had a relaxing night in. Scott and I watched a movie and he ironed. I also worked really hard on the laundry room today. I moved some stuff around in there.. Made a rod to hang clothes up on..nothing fancy at all but its working great. I will get pictures of it sometime soon for you guys. Anyway..husby only works till 4 tomorrow so we are going to pick up my very early birthday gift!

 Country Living-Stanton Patio Collection

I am really really excited! Can't wait to pick it up and get it home! We also need to do a little grocery shopping too. So the afternoon will be busy. I will be posting more from Mardi Gras weekend tomorrow too so stay tuned!

Have a great night.

!!!!!MARDI GRAS!!!!!

Friday, February 24, 2012

After our day at the zoo, we took Zane back to his mothers house because we planned a night in the big city!

That is the super dome all lit up in Mardi Gras colors with a big Mercedes symbol in the middle. We were so lucky to park about 5 blocks away and find free parking in a safe spot.

We were trying to get Harrah's Casino where mom and Don were but we had to go through tons of people and a couple big parades.

Sunday we woke up and headed out to the zoo. It was actually kinda chilly that day but we bundled up and went anyway.

When we got there mom got out the wagon

But after walking with it for

a few minutes, they decided to put it back and let him walk..I thought they were crazy for pulling that dog around!

We bought the tickets to everything in advance so there was no

Fill in the ___Friday!!

The love of my life is

My husband Scott.

- and I should say my kids are my truest loves of my life -

( but I don't think that is what the question is )

Falling in love is

Amazing.. the best feeling ever.

I think we all should fall in love with as many things as we can in our lives. It's all that matters.

Marriage is

Intense, there is so much emotion in it. Some days are hard.. some are good but no matter what.. you should stick it out together as a team.

The longest relationship I have ever had is

is with Scott. Almost 9 years now. Wow.. its crazy thinking about how many days we have spent together. It passes in a blink of the eye.

The key to a good relationship

There are so many but I say forgiveness is a huge key to making any relationship last. Not to mention,  understanding and compromise.

I feel loved when

I am first.. not second, third, fourth or 5th on a list of priorities. . When I feel that I matter is when I feel loved.

My most cherished memory with my love was

The day I looked into his eyes and said I will love only him for the rest of my life.

My favorite quote about love is

“Love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.”

Hope you are having a great Friday!

Chinese Food and Bowling in New Orleans!

After the Aquarium we all came back to the hotel and rested for a bit. When we left the aquarium is was raining really hard. We all got s-o-a-k-e-d!! I even fell to sleep in the car on the way back to the hotel.. After we all got rested we headed out for some dinner.

We thought a Chinese buffet would be great because everyone would have so much to pick from.

I had a great dinner!

And dessert wasn't too bad either!

Yum!

Fortune Cookie Time!

Then we were off to go bowling. There was a long wait before we could get a lane. So here are some pictures of our time waiting!
