Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce from over at From This Side of the Pond ....this is always such a fun linkup.. join in anytime! Hope you enjoy.

1. What's the best thing about growing older?

I think with getting older, we get wiser. I think our thought process really changes for the better...at least for many of us. I feel like the older I get, the smarter I get.. I love it.

2. When did you first feel like a grown up?

That's hard to pin point. For a while both kids were living with my ex husband. While I was fully an adult, I only had myself and Scott to really look after on a daily basis. But that changed as the kids moved back in. I think that is the point when I really felt like a grown up. Here I am, totally responsible for another person...no one watching or helping.. it was all me.. so that's when it kicked in that I'm a grown up. Shit!

3. Chocolate cake with white icing or white cake with chocolate icing?

Yes Please!

4. What's the nicest thing a stranger has ever done for you?

A long time ago I went to an AA Meeting with a friend. I never had a drinking problem but I had other issues and I needed to go listen to some inspiration to get myself together. I was so upset at the time. I had lost my job.. wasn't really talking to my family and had very little food in the refrigerator. In that meeting I was talking to a little group and started crying... I explained that I didn't know what I was going to do for food or money.. rent was due and I didn't have it. Well little did I know, that night after I left that meeting, they held another little meeting about me. The organized a plan and that following morning I woke up to so many bags of groceries on my front porch. ( Thankfully it was cold outside  and everything was fine ) ...also there was a little note that said they collected donations to cover 2 months rent and the food. I was so touched. I sat on that porch humiliated that I had let things get so bad but so grateful for the blessings that came my way because I was honest. I will never forget them or their extraordinary help.  A few years later I sent a check to pay back what they had done. It came back to me with a note that simply said.. " We helped you because we cared...it was not a loan so keep your money and try to do the same for someone else one day. Again I cried and cried because those strangers were truly my angels.

5.  What's something you learned from your grandparents?

I learned a lot from my grandparents. They raised me for the most part. I was lucky enough to have a grandfather who taught me how to work on my own car, to both my grandmothers teaching me how to cook anything I wanted.. and the list goes on and on. Lots of life lessons came from my grandparents. Even the bad lessons.

6. Wednesday marks a sad day in the history of planet earth-9/11...what's something you do (or can do) to bring peace to your little corner of the world?

Give up trying to be right all the time.  I fight even harder when I know I'm right but as my husband once said " Do you want to be right all the time or do you want a marriage? " I do love a good I told you so moment which is not so peaceful in a relationship. So I am trying to not be right all the time to have a little more peace.

7.  Share a favorite quote, scripture, or song containing the word peace.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Its too damn early right now and my coffee is not helping at all! I am seriously thinking that since husby is still sleeping, I might just have to go cuddle up with him and try to go back to sleep. Normally we don't sleep together because he snores and I stay up late. But in the mornings most of the time I can sleep with him because I am so tired! So I think that sounds like a great plan! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday. I hope that each one of you says a prayer for the victims and families forever changed by 9/11. There are so many still dealing with the aftermath of that horrible moment in time and could use us all to lift them up in our prayers.
