Beauty Products: What to Keep & What to Toss | VIDEO |

Saturday, May 31, 2014

Hello friends! I hope you are having a beautiful evening! I have been busy the past couple of weeks trying to get things sorted out and more organized...which includes my makeup! I think late spring early summer and late fall are great times to give your makeup a closer look. New products will be out in the summer and winter so its also nice to make room for new items you want to try. Did you know makeup has a expiration date?  It does and if want to know more, enjoy the video below.

When was the last time you cleaned out your makeup? I am betting there are a couple things that might need tossing out! Have a look and be sure to let me know how your cleaning and organizing goes!

Helloooo Saturday!

Happy Saturday friends! I hope you are having a wonderful afternoon. I woke up late today but it was exactly what I needed. Most of this past week, I have been going to bed super late and getting up too damn early. I felt exhausted last night and when I was finally able to go to sleep and stay in bed a little longer, made all the difference in how I feel today. Scott finally got tired of waiting on me to get up and ended up calling and getting my butt out of the bed. Funny thing is, when I got up and checked on little Jackson....he was in bed too just waking up himself! Guess he needed a break too. We are just being sleepy heads around here today. I just wish Scott was here to lay around with us!

Here are some of my Saturday thoughts.

  • The rain is coming again. It almost looks like night outside at 3 in the afternoon.
  • For some reason, my stomach is acting up today. NO FUN.
  • My sister finally got her box that I mailed. Soooo happy she likes it!
  • My uncles dad broke his neck in 3 places a couple nights ago.. and he is still alive. WOW.
  • Jackson was sad all evening about missing his teachers. Its so nice they have made that kind of impact on him.
  • I let Scott order my dinner last night and he did an amazing job. It was so delicious!
  • I saw where Donald Sterling is suing the NBA. I actually hope he wins. Private conversations at home should never be used against us. Think of how many things YOU have said in the comforts of your own house. Would you ever want those used against you? I think NOT.
  • I need to start working on the grocery list. I think I am going to make all Jackson's favorites since he will be leaving next weekend. Gosh... I am really going to miss him. He said to me..." Mom, please don't cry this know I am coming back. " Ok.. I will try to hold the tears back but no promises.
  • I searched high and low yesterday for freebies and nothing! Days like that drive me nuts. :)
  • Therapy went good this week. We had nothing bad to report so we are starting to work on long term annoyances of each other. Maybe just maybe...some of the most nerve racking behavior on both of our parts can be dealt with and resolved.
  • I seriously want a bonsai tree. Check this cute one out! LOVE IT! This is the Hobbit Bonsai tree. I am going to start looking for the perfect little tree and go from there.
  • Right now all the neighbors are rushing around trying to get their yards done before the rain. Its kinda funny because on both sides of me both guys are speeding around on their mowers in what looks to be a contest to see who can finish first. I think the guy on the right will win!

  • My oldest son turns 18 today. Its crazy how time has passed so fast. We don't have much of a relationship right now but one day I really hope that changes.

    • I watched Red 2 last night and let just say....The South Korean Actor Byung-hun Lee is something to see.  Holy shit.. Muscles don't even do it for me but I must say....that this is one beautiful man who is very easy to watch! I've got to find more of his movies.
    • I am still responding to emails. I replied back to a handful of people late last night. Sorry if an email comes in at 2am.. I am just replying when I can!
    • This past week I have felt tired...kinda sick and today seems to be the first day I don't feel so tired but my body is still not right. I don't know whats's going on but I have an appointment with a new Dr. next week.
    • Its the weekend so that means cleaning the chalkboard wall. I do it every week and honest to God...its a work out! But I love it!
    • Its getting late in the afternoon. I have got to get moving! I hope you all have a wonderful week. I will be back in a bit a beauty video. Tomorrow I have a recipe coming that is going to be a for sure hit in your family and Monday I will have my weekly food haul up.  Have a great day!

    Goodbye 5th Grade...HELLO SUMMER!

    Friday, May 30, 2014

Hello friends! I hope you are having a wonderful afternoon. It was a early morning for me so I am kinda moving slower today. Today was the last day of school for Jackson. I think its bitter sweet for him. I know he is going to miss a few of his friends but I also know he is glad its over. He has a very busy summer ahead of him. We had to be there super early for awards and after the big award ceremony, we had to go into the classroom for more individual awards. I was pretty sleepy in the first half but it was nice seeing his teachers one last time and kinda say goodbye to the school.  It wasn't always easy for Jackson this past year but his teachers put a lot of work into helping him and getting him to actually learn the material. I couldn't be more grateful.

    Here's a quick video of Jackson's class...

One of Jackson's teachers, Mrs Strickland put that together for us all which was really sweet. All the kids are growing up so fast and now moving on to 6th grade!

I can't believe we are through with this school year. For some reason, this year seemed to pass quick for us. Jackson will be heading up north in about a week to spend the summer with his dad. I don't know what our house is going to be like without him for so long but I hope he makes a ton of great summer memories and then comes home and breezes through the 6th grade!

    Happy Friday!

    Friday Letters!

Happy Friday Friends! I hope you all are having a wonderful morning. Here's this weeks edition of Friday Letters.

Dear God, Here we are. Another week. You surely have been with me this entire time. I am thankful for getting older and having a little more wisdom than stupidity. But believe me... on my most stupid days, I need you the most. Dear Jackson, you did it baby boy! You made it through 5th grade! I am so very proud of you. We are going to miss you a lot this summer but have a great time at your dads. You deserve it. Dear Scott, sorry I made you mad yesterday. I was tired and didn't want to get the gas. It didn't effect anything because you weren't even going to mow the yard anyway. Hopefully you feel better today. I still love you though! :) Dear United States, I shouldn't have to keep saying it but here is another perfect example of needed gun control. How many times does this have to keep happening? I didn't grow up in a time of kids shooting schools up or killing their parents. Its really scary to actually see the progression myself to what we have changed to. Its not good and we all should be taking a stand before more kids and innocent people die. Dear Morning, I am not so fond of you today. I have been waiting days to sleep in...maybe tomorrow it happen! Dear Jordan, tomorrow is your 18th birthday. The years have passed by so fast. No matter what you think, I really do miss you. I wish you were around and I hope you have a great birthday. Dear Mom, I haven't talked to you much here lately but I hope you are doing good and enjoying watching you bamboo grow. Dear Purse, you are seriously a garbage bin right now. I need to clean you out asap otherwise, if something goes in you... I doubt I will ever find it again. Dear Brittany Belle, I hope you have a great summer at Cheer-leading Camp but not having you around this summer is going to be so weird. I am trying to respect you being your own person but its hard. I miss you and will see you next weekend when we drop Jackson off. Dear Cooper, I hope your hip pills are helping. I hate to see you get older but I guess its just life. I still need to get Scott to get you a new big doggie bed! Hopefully soon you will have a new fluffy pillow to sleep on. Dear Trina, Sorry you had a hard few days. I hope you are feeling better now and remember we are always here for you. Dear Desk, we are suppose to work together today so I can go through mail and pay bills but its either happening much later today or its getting pushed into tomorrow. I am just too sleepy to do it today. Dear Mrs. Strickland & Mrs Shubeck, Thank you so much for all you did with Jackson this past year. He learned so much from you both everyday and I couldn't appreciate it more. Thank you and we will all miss you guys. Dear Laci, sorry it took a while to get your box off. You should be getting it soon. I decided to wait and add a few extra things that I bet you will like! Be sure to let me know when you get it. I love and miss you. And don't forget, you can always call if you need something. Dear Family, for some reason I have been wanting either a little hamster or maybe even a bird. I am pretty sure that the cats would think either was lunch so I have waited. But I walked past a beautiful African Grey the other day and it might just have to move in soon. :) Dear School Awards Ceremony, I have never seen so many poofy heads of hair in my life. Not even in church have I seen so many high hair do's stiff as a brick with hairspray at 8am. I must be a really plain person because I could never wear my hair like that. But you women impress me because it had to take hours to do! That's dedication for ya! Dear Shanna, Sorry we haven't talked as much this past week. I am just so tired right now but I miss you and promise we will talk more over the weekend! Dear House, I have no idea how you stayed picked up this week but its Friday and you still look pretty good...thank goodness because that means less work later. Dear blog/youtube friends, I hope you all had a wonderful week. I know that I have emails waiting on me to respond and hopefully this weekend I will get all caught up. Thank you guys so much for sharing your life with me. I love getting to know you and your friendships mean the world to me.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Birchbox Update! April Reviews & May Open Birchbox | VIDEO |

    Thursday, May 29, 2014

Hello friends! I am back with a Birchbox update! Birchbox is a monthly subscription service that I pay for myself to try a few new things each month. It costs $10 a month with free shipping. This is such a great way of sampling new products without any big investments. If you want to see my quick reviews on the April Birchbox items I got, along with my thoughts on the May box, enjoy the video! Also, there are more pictures and information below!

    | More Info |

I always love it when this little box shows up at my door. This time when I opened the box, it smelled so good. Here's what I got...

    * I got the Nexxus Color Assure System that came with the shampoo, conditioner, and Primer. Yes, a primer...who would have guessed!? Thisis suppose to protect your hair and keep your color lasting extra long. I can't wait to try this out and who knows.. I am a huge Nexxus fan, so I might just end up buying the entire system if I like it!

    * My box also contained the Caldrea Coconut fig Leaf Body Wash. This is a refreshing scented body was that is the perfect travel size. I don't know if I will use this right away or not but it will for sure go up for travel!

    * The candle that came in this box, is what made it smell so amazingly good. They describe the scent as - Experience the flush that comes from a passionate first kiss, with First Blush - I don't think my first kiss smelled near as good as this candle. I couldn't find it on the website but I did find the First Blush Sachet

    * They also sent the Caldrea Tea Olive Lime Body Lotion.  This has shea for deep hydration, chia seed oils helps rebuild skins own protection and fights free radicals with major omega powers. Wow..that's a lot for a body lotion so we'll see!

    * The last item I received in my box was the Cotz Face Tinted SPF. With summer right around the corner, this will be nice to try out. It might even be good for Scott on days he is out on the golf course to help keep his face from burning.

So those are the items that came in my May Birchbox. If you are interested in trying it out, click here to get started! This is wonderful subscription box that I have been enjoying for a while now and I am betting you will enjoy it too!

    Have a great night. :)

    Thankful Thursday

Hello friends! Happy Thursday to you all. Its been a busy day for me with appointments and such so I am kinda running late with everything! So here are the things I am am thankful for this week...hope you enjoy!

♥  I am thankful that I finally got my closet done. I finished it up on Monday and it feels so much nicer going in there. It took a lot of time and work but it was totally worth it.

♥ I am thankful to God for following right along with me as I wander on and off the path of my life. I am still trying to find my way, and I am blessed because you have always stayed with me.

♥ I am thankful for Romeo. I know we have 4 cats but in my eyes there is only one king of the castle and its Romeo. He is simply magical. This kitty cat is the best gift my husband EVER got me. Anyone who comes into our home loves him the same. He is just the best cat I have ever had. I could seriously kiss and cuddle him all day long.

♥  I am thankful for Jackson finishing up school this week. Its been a long year of homework, tests, and school issues. Finally, we get a break! - And yes, I said WE - Scott too!

♥ I am thankful for a good nights sleep. Here lately, I have been doing a lot of tossing and turning but last night I was finally able to soundly sleep.

♥ I am thankful to be almost done with my current book. This time it took a while to really get into it and read it but its nice having a little time to myself to sit down and read, which doesn't happen often.

♥ I am thankful not be vlogging everyday. Slowing down has been a blessing. I was so use to doing it that the first week or two, I kinda felt lost at times but now I am totally loving it. Weekends and trips are enough.

♥ I am thankful for the little moments through last week when I would sit outside just enjoying the sunshine and warm weather. Being able to get fresh air on warm days makes me happy happy!

♥ I am thankful that yesterday's Dentist for Jackson went well. His teeth look good and we are moving on to the braces faze. I am sure he won't like that but we are not giving him any choice so like it or not, hes going to have a gorgeous smile...He'll thank me later.

♥  I am thankful I finally got all the animals around here trimmed up for summer. That also took days but they all seem cooler and happier.

♥  I am thankful for good coffee. With the string of early appointments this week ( including tomorrow ), there is no way I would be able to get out the door without having some good coffee first.

♥  I am thankful for Scott working so hard to make things better each day. Marriage is hard and I know my job is to love him the way he is instead of changing him. However, its really nice to see him taking a stand to make things the best they can be.

♥ I am thankful for fresh simple food on these warmer days. I made a spring fruit salad that was so delicious...I dreamed about it one night.

♥ I am thankful for a mom who always listens and tries her best to help my sister and myself. She really is a wonderful mom.

♥ I am thankful for our ceiling fans. I am not a huge fan of air conditioning and the fans sure make all the difference on warm days.

♥ I am thankful to be right here in South Carolina right now. This state is so beautiful. The weather is beautiful and the people are nice. The other day I was strolling around Walmart and was shocked at how nice people that day were. Everyone was saying hello and excuse me.. really being kind. I like it here. But I am not sure this is where I want to call home forever. I am still dreaming of life in the sunshine state again but maybe we are not suppose to be there right now. So this is home for now.

♥  I am thankful for Jacksons teachers. They have really worked with him this past year. He had his ups and downs but they kept loving him. I couldn't ask for anything more. They really deserve a standing ovation.

♥  I am so very thankful to you guys who come visit and sometimes send me the most touching messages. I love getting to know you and your families. You guys have made my heart grow and I am so very blessed for your friendships. Thank you .

I hope you have a beautiful and blessed afternoon!

Easy & Delicious Crockpot Meatball Sliders Recipe | VIDEO |

    Wednesday, May 28, 2014

Hello friends! I am back with another simple yet delicious crockpot meal. These little sliders are perfect for any week night dinner, or as an appetizer and they are also great for game day! I made fresh meatballs but you could certainly use frozen too.  Also my crockpot cooks high and fast so these took only about 3 hours total and then I just kept it on warm until everyone got home and ate. These are super easy to make..everything you need to know is in the video. The full recipe is below!

Thanks for watching! I would love to know what your favorite meatball recipe is, if you would like to share, let me know below!
    Here's the Recipe

Frozen Meatballs or you can make fresh as I did...either which one works great
    1 Jar Smucker’s Concord Grape Jelly 18ox
1 Bottle of Heinz Chili Sauce 12 oz.
Slider Buns - I like the Sweet Hawaiian slider buns
Slices of Cheese - I prefer Provolone

Either make your meatballs one by one and add them to the crockpot or add a bag of frozen meatballs.
Combine the Grape Jelly and Chili Sauce in a bowl, then stir.
Cover the meatballs, and put the lid on.
Heat on high for 3- 4 hours, stirring occasionally. Let simmer on low.
Transfer meatball to a slider bun, then top with cheese.

    Wednesday Hodgepodge!

Happy Wednesday Friends! Time for another Wednesday Hodgepodge with Joyce from over at From This Side of the Pond ....this is always such a fun linkup.. join in anytime! Hope you enjoy.

    1. What news story are you following right now?

Gosh all of them. Mostly though, the kids who were just killed in California by Elliot Rodger. How can we not pause and really think about what is going on. I am so sad by our country becoming a war zone. I have spoke of gun control so many times and I have a feeling it will be falling on deaf ears. I just don't get it. I said in my weekend in review post, we - the US have more mass murders by our own people than any other country. - Seriously. What does that say about us here in the US? To me it says we are making a war zone out of our own country with guns and the mentally ill and just plain evil people. What if your child or family member is next? Will you stand up and do something then? I think its time for a change in our society and since the government can't get it right...really our only hope is the children that are coming up, put a stop to this violence. They will have to be the ones to change things. The older generation just won't do it.

Another not so serious of a story I have been hearing about and reading is the picture of Dutches Kate showing her bare butt. No joke. Wanna see the actual picture?? →Here it is.← There has been all kinds of banter back and forth wondering if she is wearing a thong or in fact nothing at all. This has been happening for a while where she has her Marilyn moments but this is a little much. She was on a tour in Australia and New Zealand and she couldn't put some undies on that have a little more fabric or weights in her skirt? Really?? I am a huge fan but she is suppose to be Queen one day and showing her ass in full is a little much. I know it was not intentional - but she has to be aware of the problem and doing little about it. In fact she is wearing very little under her dresses out on public tours...yea, I'm shocked to say the least. We all know she has a beautiful body, she doesn't have to have her cute little wispy dresses blowing up. This never happens to the Queen. I think its time she figures out that its not so becoming to have your dress blowing up with the wind and not being covered up under. Cameras are always on her when she is out and about so I can't really blame the photographer because he was doing his job when she was in a public setting but I can blame her for mooning everyone. She should know better by now. Lets hope this hugely embarrassing picture teaches her to cover up a little more and maybe she put some weights in those dresses. One can hope.

    2. What's the last thing you wanted but didn't get?

I went to get this bedding set so I could redo my bedroom and when I saw it in person I kinda got nervous because it stood out so much that I didn't get it. Now I am kinda regretting it so maybe I will get it in the coming days. I just don't know! Do you think its too flashy???

    3. May 28th is National Hamburger Day...when did you last have a hamburger? Other than your own kitchen or BBQ grill, where is your favorite place to go for a hamburger? And for all you non-meat eaters out there...when you're invited to a cookout what is the one side dish you hope is on the menu?

I had a burger just the other day at a little French Bistro which was pretty good topped grilled leeks. I use to have a little favorite spot called Newts in our old town but sadly I just haven't found a great spot here yet!

    4. How have your priorities changed over time?

I could write a book on that question alone. I think in my early 20's my priorities were basically selfish and all about me. Then Brittany and Jackson came along and changed everything about how I see things. The older I get, I am really starting to figure out what really matters and those are where my priorities lay.

    5. What's a favorite memory with your grandparents?                                                                                                                           You just have all kinds of wonderful questions this week! I grew with my grand parents being the main ones who raised me. I was super close to my grand father and all my memories with him are amazing. Even the hard times, I can look back and see his good will, loyalty and love for me. The memories are endless and sometimes haunting since he is not here anymore. I have wonderful memories with my Grandma Mary making popcorn balls every year at Halloween which I always think about in the fall months. Between her and my Grandfather Watteau, I was blessed with a lot of love and great memories that will forever be apart of my heart and soul.

    6. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being fantastic!), how good are you at multitasking? Share an example.

8 - I would guess. But it really depends on the day. If things are going good I can be working on a blog post, work on dinner and take calls all at the same time. I get things to a certain point in the kitchen, take a break for a minute or two...head back to the computer and continue with my computer work all while talking to my mom or friend on the phone! :) But if its a day where I am just being a scatter brain, I don't multi task too well. It really depends on the day.

    7. How would you summarize your highs and lows for the month of May?                                                                                                                                                                                              The end of April was not so easy for me. I went into May kinda broken if you will, and in just 4 weeks I feel so much better. I made some necessary changes and it helped May be a better month. I haven't had too many lows which I am totally grateful for. I am seeing a new therapist who is helping me see things from a different point of view which is kinda enlightening. Also we had our oldest daughters college graduation so we got to have a little mini vacation during the month of May. We saw family and friends and had a wonderful time. So seeing her graduate..was for sure a high. May has been good to me and I am so very thankful for it. Lets hope it carries over into June! :)

    8.  Insert your own random thought here.

During this month I have been spending a lot of time organizing different areas of our home. I just finished my walk in closet and did a tour with a lot of organizational ideas and not to mention, I just re organized my desk and the laundry room is next. It feels good to have the areas I use the most nice and tidy. It helps everything run so much smoothly for me when things are put up. I am going to keep working on all the areas around our house that needs some improvement. I know in the long run, it will be so worth it. However, I doubt today I will be organizing anything. I have to pick Jackson up early from school and take him to a dentist appointment. When we have late afternoon appointments, its always a struggle to get things done in the evenings. Dinner is all prepped and ready to go into the oven when we get home and lets just hope he doesn't have any cavities! :) I hope you all have a beautiful and blessed week. - Thanks for stopping by!
